THE METHOD OF CONSCIOUSLY LISTENING TO MUSIC: A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR CHILDREN!
Every child has a feeling for music, even if the child does not play an instrument or sings out of tune. All children love music, .....in principle! But enthusiasm and interest rapidly disappear if children are not taught, or do not instinctively know, how to engage with music.
The musicosophia-method of conscious listening to music tries to keep children's love for music alive. The musicosophia-method is particularly suitable for children of (primary) school-going age and younger. They learn to listen to music in an attentive way, they also learn to recognize melodies and musical patterns, and to distinguish between them.
Using the musicosophia-method means that children work with music by humming, singing, drawing and using their hands in tune with the music. In these ways they experience the music anew and as a whole. They will benefit in many ways:
1. through conscious listening children will discover the music of the great composers in an independent and playful way, and they develop an immediate and spontaneous relationship with the masterpieces of classical music.
2. their fantasy and thinking is being stimulated, all the senses become more sensitive. They find new ways to themselves and therefore are more balanced.
3. conscious listening also promotes the child's ability to concentrate, to absorb, to recognize beauty, and to 'be inspired', skills which will be beneficial to many other areas in the child's life. .
4. melody and rhythm of music bring out the natural urge of children to move which will have a positive effect on the children moving more in harmony with themselves.
Specific courses for children and/or their parents or educationalists
musicosophia-SCHERZO
Musical summer weeks for children, parents and educationalists
All children and parents are welcome. In a relaxed atmosphere children, parents and educationalists discover together and in a playful way the music of the great composers.
In the mornings children and parents listen to music together. In the afternoons there is opportunity for walks, outings and games in the open air. In the evenings children and adults split up in different groups. The children are exposed to deep listening exercises in which they can let go of their fantasies. Adults become more familiar with the educational philosophy of the Musicosophia method, in order to prepare them to do listening-games with their children at home.
It is gratifying that young artists have continued participating in these summer weeks, making 'conscious listening to music' an unforgettable holiday experience.
